Grant
Beloved horse, devoted friend and teacher
1985-2007

Grant went down with colic late yesterday afternoon. The vet did all he could, working on him last night and again this morning. Unfortunately, Grant quickly became gravely ill. He died just after noon today.
He will be missed terribly…

Don’t Cry For The Horses
By: Susan Humphrey
They were ours as a gift, but never to keep,
As they close their eyes forever to sleep.
Their spirits unbound,
On silver wings they fly.
A million white horses,
Against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven,
You’ll see them above.
The horses we lost,
The horses we loved.
Manes and tails flowing,
As they gallop through time,
They were never yours- they were never mine.
Don’t cry for the horses,
They’ll be back some day.
When our time is gone,
They will show us the way.
Do you hear that soft nicker?
Close to your ear?
Don’t cry for the horses,
Love the ones that are here.

Oh no!!! How is R doing with it? I didn’t know enough about horses to know something like that could be fatal.
Oh No! I’m so sorry. I know you all will miss him terribly and I sure hope it wasn’t too expensive to take care of everything.
DD is very sorry too.
Colic is such a scary thing with horses! My sincerest condolences for poor R. As a fellow horse lover I can truly empathize.
My thoughts are with you and R. What a terrible loss for her - I’ve seen through your writing and photos how much she loves him. How much more you’ll treasure your Christmas pictures now! I know R. will never forget Grant, and I wish for you all that her healing is as smooth as can be.
It’s so hard to lose a friend and my horses were certainly my friends. Tell R my heart goes out to her.
I’m so sorry. I’m not a horse person, but I know how hard it is to lose a beloved animal friend.
Oh, poor R, and poor you! What a devastating loss! All my sympathies go out to you and your family. Didn’t she just get Grant last year at this time?
(((( hugs for you both! ))))
Oh, i am so sorry to hear about Grant! He was such a sweet horse and friend for R. i’m sure she is devastated. Give her a hug and kiss from us.
Maura, I am so sorry. R. must be devastated. Holding you all in my thoughts.
Oh, dear! I am so sorry to hear this! Poor R must be so upset! What a rotten thing to happen any time of year, but especially this close to Christmas.
I’m so sorry too to hear the news. My heart goes out to you and R and M too. I hope that this hasn’t been too scary for them. I’ve always been one to get so close to my animal companions, it is sometimes so hard to accept the loss.
Please tell R I’m thinking of her. I hope she can take comfort in the fact that she helped give Grant the best of all possible homes.
I will join the others and just say how sorry I am that this has happened. I can only imagine what you all are going through. I will be thinking of you all.
I’m crying, I am so sorry that this happened at all and especially before Christmas. Tell R we’re sorry.
Poor R.
Do you think you will get another horse for her at some point?
Oh no! That’s so sad! Poor R, I know that it was a big deal to her when Grant came to live with you!
That poem nearly killed me! Jeez! Now I have to go find a tissue…
We are all so sorry to hear that Grant is gone! Give R a hug for us.
